Conveniences
Rockledge is a
convenient place to live. From the limited number of commercial activities described in the first chapter, Rockledge Commerce has developed to the point where there are presently a half dozen or more banking
establishments located within the corporate city limits. In addition to the neighborhood shopping centers, grocery markets, department stores, etc., new resident remarked that he was happy to land a
fine position at a large government installation located on the south side of Orlando because he was so attracted to the cultural amenities and entertainment available in the greater Orlando
area. When looking for a place to live that would be conducive to setting up the type of desired atmosphere, he and his wife found the best alternative on the north side of Orlando. They
both subsequently began to commute daily from their home to work and rediscovered what life in a big city was all about. To make a long story short, they have since selected Rockledge as a
place to live and swear it takes them no longer to travel from Rockledge to work, except the drive is much more pleasant for both of them! Furthermore, they feel their family would be better raised in
the Rockledge area and the cultural and top-flight entertainment of the Orlando area is only an hour's drive away when they choose to make it. The bottom line of their story, better to live
daily in a more slow paced environment than to have big city hassles everyday for being in only
slightly closer proximity to occasionally used entertainment. For a broader view of local services, cultural activities,
etc., we highly recommend reading the book "BUT IT IS IN BREVARD" by Patti Kornberg, available in most places where books are sold locally, there is a new shopping center under construction as this
publication goes to press on the very site that the first Rockledge postmaster settled his homestead. Although there is not a glut of cultural activities within the city limits of
Rockledge, many are available nearby. That is one of the reasons, for example, we not only have many new residents coming to our fine city via corporate transfer or retirement from the north,
but also from the south. And most recently', we have even begun to feel an impact from the Orlando/Central Florida area lying to the west of us. A recent |
